What media do you use?
I use pen and ink for the line work with a combination of water
colors and colored pencils. I work on cold pressed acid free water
color paper.
Do you work in black and white?
Yes. Black and white is elegant and also a little less expensive.
What size is the artwork?
14” x 20” is standard. It can be made bigger or smaller.
How many people can you fit in a picture?
Any number from 1-20.
How long does it take?
2-3 weeks is ideal. Some projects take longer. It can be done faster,
if you don’t mind paying a slightly higher rate.
Do you frame the artwork?
Matting and framing are not included but I often help my clients
with this step for a reasonable extra charge. I am happy to help
with suggestions for matting and framing the work yourself.
What do you need to get started?
Before beginning, I speak with the person ordering the picture about
the person or people that will appear in it. I ask about their likes,
dislikes, hobbies, habits, stories, memories and funny moments.
Our conversation will result in an overall theme for the picture
and a list of details that I will weave into it. I will need recent,
clear and flattering photos of all the people to be included. JPEGs,
via e-mail are the best.
Will I see a proof?
I will show you a pencil sketch and ask for your corrections and
changes. A revised sketch will be sent for your final approval.
How much does it cost?
Each project is priced individually. With modifications in size
and complexity, I am able to work within most budgets.
How do you accept payment?
I take checks and money orders. I collect a deposit before starting
and the balance when the artwork is delivered. At this time, I am
not accepting credit cards.
Can I get extra copies ?
Copies can be ordered and given out to all the people featured in
the picture.
Can our group sign the picture?
An extra wide matte can be made for messages and the signatures
of those presenting the gift.
